Meet Principal Peveler

Susan Peveler has proudly served as Principal of Shaw Elementary School since 2015. With nearly two decades of experience in education, she is committed to fostering a positive, inclusive school environment where every student is encouraged to grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
Throughout her career, Susan has served as an assistant principal, instructional coach, and classroom teacher in both Ohio and Virginia. She is passionate about supporting high-quality instruction, building strong partnerships with families, and using data-informed practices to help all students succeed. She also champions initiatives such as Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) to promote a safe, welcoming, and supportive school community.
Susan holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Cincinnati and a Master of Science in Education from Old Dominion University. She is licensed as a Superintendent, Principal (PreK–12), K–5 teacher, and Gifted Intervention Specialist. Outside of school, Susan enjoys connecting with the Shaw Elementary community and supporting the growth and success of both students and staff.

My name is Susan Peveler, and I am proud to serve as the principal of Shaw Elementary School. As an educator with a deep passion for fostering growth and learning, I am dedicated to providing every student with the tools and support they need to excel. At Shaw, we are focused on inspiring and empowering tomorrow's leaders. Together, we provide a safe, supportive learning environment that engages all students through innovative experiences, helping them reach their greatest potential. At Shaw, we believe in each student's ability to achieve high levels of success.
